After completing this course, the participant will be able to:
 
  • Differentiate among available bone grafting materials (autogenous, allograft, xenograft, and alloplast) and select appropriate grafting techniques based on ridge morphology and defect classification.
  • Demonstrate competency in performing simple and intermediate ridge augmentation procedures in accordance with current surgical protocols.
  • Compare and execute crestal (internal) and lateral (external) sinus lift techniques, including proper case selection, instrumentation, and complication management.
  • Perform ridge expansion procedures utilizing appropriate armamentarium and flap design principles to enhance implant site development.
  • Identify intraoral autogenous bone donor sites and demonstrate harvesting techniques while minimizing patient morbidity.
  • Evaluate treatment options for atrophic edentulous ridges, including bone blade techniques, the Carotta technique, and titanium mesh (Ti-Mesh) applications for guided bone regeneration.
  • Recognize potential complications and risk factors associated with grafting and sinus augmentation procedures and formulate evidence-based management strategies.
  • Prior level of experience: Placement of 20 implants or more

Dr. Ihab M. Hanna

Dr. Ihab M. Hanna

Ihab M. Hanna, DDS, FAAID-DABOIDr. Ihab M. Hanna graduated, with honors, in 1994 from Cairo University. Afterwards, he spent three years in training and hospital residency before moving to San Francisco. He completed two years of General practice residency at the University of Illinois as a chief resident, where he acquired additional training with the use of Dental Implants, sedation, and special care dentistry.

With over 25 years of implant dentistry experience and faculty at several implant educational programs, Dr. Hanna has extended his skills and knowledge to the community through his implant study club, where he supports general dentists in advancing their implant skills through hands-on live surgeries.Dr. Hanna is the founder of the RWC Implant Study Club and is committed to sharing dental implant education with the general dentist community.
