Objectives

Objectives: After completing this course, the participant will be able to:
  • Evaluate case selection and indications for crestal (internal) versus lateral (external) sinus lift procedures.
  • Differentiate indications for Carotta grafting compared with ridge expansion techniques.
  • Develop treatment plans using clinical examination and CBCT interpretation for implant site development.
  • Apply the PASS principles (Primary closure, Angiogenesis, Space maintenance, and Stability) for predictable bone regeneration.
  • Design appropriate surgical flaps and perform proper suturing techniques to support regenerative outcomes.
  • Implement alveolar ridge regenerative strategies to manage deficient bone volume prior to implant placement.
  • Select appropriate grafting materials including autogenous, allogenic, and xenograft bone based on clinical indications.
  • Identify case selection criteria for sinus augmentation using vertical (crestal) and lateral sinus approaches.
  • Recognize intraoral donor sites and techniques for harvesting autogenous bone grafts.
  • Gain practical experience with advanced grafting and sinus augmentation techniques through hands-on surgical training.

PPrior level of experience in Basic surgical skills of flap and suturing, and implant treatment planning is needed

Dr. Ihab M. Hanna graduated, with honors, in 1994 from Cairo University. Afterwards, he spent three years in training and hospital residency before moving to San Francisco. He completed two years of General practice residency at the University of Illinois, as a chief resident, where he acquired additional training with the use of Dental Implants, sedation and special care dentistry.With over 25 years of implant dentistry experience and faculty at several implant educational programs, Dr. Hanna has extended his skills and knowledge to the community through his implant study club where he supports general dentists in advancing their implant skills through hands on live surgeries further.Dr. Hanna is founder of the RWC Implant Study Club and is committed to sharing dental implant education to the general dentist community.
