Dental implants can be transformative for patients - but only when treatment planning is sound, risks are identified early, and expectations are handled expertly. This course emphasizes selecting the most conservative and appropriate treatment plan to meet patient needs and expectations, while also helping clinicians build a repeatable consultation workflow.
Whether you’re currently placing implants, referring surgical phases, restoring implants, or exploring how to integrate implants into your practice responsibly, you’ll leave with tools you can apply immediately.
You’ll learn criteria for selecting the most conservative, appropriate treatment plans in:
· Single-tooth replacement
· Partially edentulous cases
· Fully edentulous cases
This includes understanding when implants are the ideal solution - and when alternative treatment plans may better serve the patient’s goals, biology, and budget.
The course breaks down key components of a high-quality implant consult, including:
· Available implant treatment options
· Indications and contraindications
· Case selection principles
· Relevant CDT codes and insurance considerations
· Financial arrangements and treatment coordination
· Clinical checklists and effective verbal communication skills
In short: you’ll gain a roadmap that supports both clinical decision-making and a smoother patient experience.
Not every implant case is a “starter case,” and not every complication is avoidable - but many risks can be reduced with structured screening. You’ll learn how to:
· Evaluate patient risk factors
· Determine which cases are appropriate based on your current surgical implant experience
· Build a progression plan that protects patients while supporting your growth as a clinician
Patients deserve clarity. Clinicians deserve protection. This portion of the course covers requirements and best practices for:
· Patient education
· Informed consent
· Informed refusal
· Comprehensive clinical documentation
Risk management is not just “what you do” - it’s how your team functions. You’ll review protocols that include:
· Team training and systems-based care
· Communication workflows
· Malpractice insurance considerations
